Registering as a patient at Binscombe

How do I register?

If you live within our practice area, registering as a patient at Binscombe is straightforward. You need to complete a Registration Form and a New Patient Questionnaire (you will need to fill in both forms) and bring them to the practice. These can be obtained from the reception desk, or downloaded here and printed off: You will also need to bring 2 forms of identification with you, one photo ID and one proof of address letter e.g. bank statement or utility bill.

How do I know if I live in the practice area?

If you are not sure then please speak to one of our reception team who will advise you as to whether or not your address is within our area. If not, we can also advise you which practices cover your area.

What will happen to my medical records when I register?

As soon as you register with us, the health authority is informed and your records will be requested from your old practice and forwarded to us. If your current practice is set up for electronic record transfer then we should be able to get your record the same day as you register. If not then this process usually takes about 2 months but if needed we can request them urgently and then we usually receive them within 1-2 weeks. Please let us know if you think we might need your old notes urgently.

How soon can I be seen once I have registered?

If need be you can be seen straight away. For non-urgent matters it is worth waiting a few days so that we can put your registration on our computer, which makes it easier to record the consultation and to issue repeat prescriptions.

If you need any more information on registering with a GP practice please see the NHS Choices page for guidance.
