Doctors at Binscombe

 

The team of doctors at Binscombe include six partners, two salaried doctors and also doctors who are undertaking GP training. These are also other qualified doctors who are specialising in General Practice and generally spend a year with us, working as part of the team and supervised by one of the GP Trainers.

Dr Andrew Cook
MB BS DRCOG DCH MRCGP  London 1986
 

Dr Cook is a GP Trainer and has a speical interest in musculoskeletal problems, having worked with the orthopaedic surgeons in the upper limb clinic for many years. He performs many of the joint injections in the practice. He is also involved in the new federation of practices which is looking at improving local care.

 

Usual work days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.

Dr Peter O'Donnell
MB BS DA MRCGP

Dr O'Donnell has a special interest in diabetes, and runs the diabetic clinic at the practice.  He also looks after any medical students who have a placement with us. He has been a GP appraiser for many years, and is now the lead appraiser for Guildford and Waverley. Dr O'Donnell looks after our patients at Pilgrim Wood Care Home.

Dr Karen Jones

Dr Martin Brunet
MA (Cantab) MB ChB MRCP MRCGP DFFP MSc Manchester 1992
 

Dr Jones has a special interest in family planning and is a family planning trainer. She fits both coils and implants as part of this role.

 

Dr Jones also has a passion for good palliative care, working in an advisory role for the CCG for many years and she continues to support initiatives to ensure good palliative care in the locality.

 

Usual work days: Monday, Thursday, Friday morning

Dr Brunet has a special interest in respiratory medicine and is the lead in this area for the practice. He is a GP Trainer and worked for many years as Programme Director for the Guildford GP training course. He stepped down from this role in 2019 in order to write about the GP consultation. His book The GP Consultation Reimagined: a Tale of Two Houses will be published by Scion Publishing in June 2020.

Dr Michael Walker

Dr Walker has a special interest in minor surgery and performs a weekly minor surgery list at the practice as well as joint injections. He is the lead doctor for Christopher's Children's Hospice, for which we provide 24 hour medical cover. Dr Walker looks after our patients at Puttenham Hill House.

Dr Sarah Pidgeon

Dr Pidgeon has a special interest in gastroenterology having worked the hospital gastroenterology clinic for many years. She is also experienced in family planning and fits both coils and implants. Dr Pidgeon looks after our patients at Eastlake Care Home.

Dr Clare Grove

Dr Grove is a GP Trainer and also has a special interest in family planning, gynaecology and child health. She fits implants as part of this role. Dr Grove looks after our patients at Robertson's Nursing Home.

Dr Jessica Jameson

Dr Jameson has a special interest in the health of women and children and also works as a GP appraiser.

Dr Kathryn Osborne

Dr Osborne completed her training at Binscombe and, after gaining experience in another local surgery, she rejoined the practice on a permanent basis in 2018. She is currently on maternity leave and will return later in 2020, she usually looks after our patients at Broadwater Lodge Care Home.
