Making an Appointment

Booking an appointment online

You can make an appointment online but will need to register for this service. Please call into reception and collect your registration form. You will need to bring proof of identity with you - we will need photo identification such as a driving licence, passport or ID card, and proof of address such as a utility bill or bank statement. Once you have this information, you can access the following link to create your account and enable you to book doctors appointments: Book an on-line appointment. At the current time we are unable to register under-16s to use our online system to make appointments. This is due to medico legal issues surrounding patient confidentiality for the under 16's .

An appointment system is operated for all surgeries.

Please call at reception, or telephone during opening hours.

It is possible to make a pre-booked appointment or to telephone on the day for an appointment, although these are limited and may be restricted for urgent matters only. An urgent matter is simply something that should not wait until the following day, we cannot guarantee the doctor of your choice for these appointments. For most other appointments please try to see your usual doctor, who will be most familiar with your medical history

If you are unable to keep your appointment, or no longer need it, please inform the practice as soon as possible so that it may be used for another patient.

Obtaining telephone advice

The doctors and nurses are generally available to give telephone advice after their surgeries, at around 12.30 on weekdays.  You will usually be asked to leave a contact number for the doctor or nurse to be able to return your call when they have finished surgery.   For emergency advice we will always try our best to find a doctor to speak to you as soon as possible.

Requesting a Home Visit

It is possible to conduct a home visit, although these should be for people who are housebound or if you are too ill to come to the surgery, and not because of transport difficulties alone. It is very rare for a child to be too ill to be brought to the surgery to be seen. If possible, please try to phone the surgery before 10.30am if you think you might need a visit at home that day.

The receptionists will require your name and address and brief details of the problem so that requests can be given the necessary priority.  A doctor will often telephone you first to discuss the problem, and visits are usually performed in the afternoon.

Out of Hours

If you struggle to attend appointments during the working day, you may find our out of hours provision, Enhanced Access provides a convenient alternative.

GP appointments are via a 15 minute face to face or telephone consultation.  In addition you can see a nurse or healthcare assistant for routine procedures such as blood tests, cervical smears or dressings and we are now able to offer an appointment with a First Contact Physiotherapist.

Appointments are available at Binscombe on a Friday evening as well as every other Saturday (starting 8th October 2022).  Please ask the reception team for more information and do mention when booking if one of these slots will suit your needs.

You can also book an Enhanced Access appointment through our reception team or online by visiting https://bookings.procarehealth.co.uk/practice-locations/procare-health-limited - please click here for booking instructions.

With your consent, your medical record will be available to the clinician at the Enhanced Access appointment; this ensures they have the information they need to give you the best possible care.  Notes taken during your appointment will be sent to your own GP practice to ensure your medical record is kept up to date.

The Enhanced Access service is able to prescribe medication if required which will be sent electronically to a pharmacy local to you.  The GPs can also refer you if you need other medical services or need to see a specialist.

When the practice is closed it is still possible to seek help from a GP via the NHS 111 service.  The service is intended for medical problems that cannot wait until the practice reopens.  You can call 111 when the surgery is closed or you can seek help online at www.111.nhs.uk
